Sacred Art Beads on Ebay

Thanks guys!Patricia

Hi!

Just a note to let you guys know what's going on in my little bead world. I have a couple of really nice sets on Ebay right. One is a hot little set of chili peppers, really cute. The other is a beautiful olive green set. I hope to post new pictures before it ends. I got a new photo set up and I think the detail will show better. Some more focals up on my site.

Something new for me. An online friend has requested that I make some beads for pendants from her late brother's ashes. Weird? I don't think so. It's a beautiful way to remember your loved one. I have heard of doing this before with family's or pet's ashes but this will be my first time. I hope to do the beads justice and I'll try to post pics.

Christmas is just around the corner (OMG! I am NOT ready!) and a few of you are making beads for jewelry as gifts. I hope you got your butt in gear before I did. I'll have another size of mandrels up next week, 5/32". I have a lot of requests for this size because they fit troll bead bracelets. I'll also have more of the large hole mandrels back in stock, 3/8" and 1/2".

Happy Beading!

Been a while!

I can't believe it's been so long since I posted! Tons of stuff on Ebay right now. I've got some focals and some sets and even some focals starting at 99 cents! I've been on a focal making binge so I have plenty more to put up when I can take pictures. I am waiting for my new photo taking package to get in. There are some wonderful new American glasses with a high silver content out now. The colors are metallic, sparkly and just amazing. The problem is that they are very difficult to photograph. The good news to that is you'll always be pleasantly surprised to find the beads are even prettier in person! Anyway, with my new lights and photo setup the colors should be truer.

I have a very cool set up on Ebay right now, Ristra. I know you've all seen ristras and just never knew what they were called. A ristra is a bunch of chilis strung together to dry. Well I made my own little Ristra with various colored chilis. Here's the link: Ristra.

Happy beading!

Kittrell Riffkind Fused Tile Class!

I mentioned a couple weeks ago visiting a wonderful glass gallery in Dallas, Kittrell Riffkind. My daughter, Ryan, and I took a fused tile class last Saturday. It was wonderful! The teacher was nice and taught us so much in those four hours. Ryan picked it up immediately and set to work on her four tile designs. I had fun and was pleased with my tile design but was frustrated cutting the glass. I'm a hot glass girl so I have never cut glass. Most of the other students had experience in stained glass so they didn't have any problems. Me? Well it's a good thing the teacher was there or I'd still be sitting there. I think she cut all but one of my pieces of glass. Ryan did much better and is really anxious to pick up her tiles after they are fired. She may have found her medium.

I found time last weekend to make some beads too. I have a couple of really nice sets going up as soon as the clouds part so I can take pictures. It will nice when my studio is finished and I can have a photo setup permanently set up inside.

Lastly I just wanted to say how much I am looking forward to the Grapevine Beadmakers meeting this Saturday. It seems there are many more local lampworkers joining the group. A gentleman from the Dallas Craft Guild will be visiting and demoing a goddess bead. Look forward to seeing you all again and meeting the new members!

Have a great week!

A dream come true. Or the beginning.

I can't believe that I will now have extra two days a week to devote to my art! It is a dream. Pinch me! My employer has agreed to let me work part time, Mondays, Tuesday and Wednesdays. It's amazing. So please stop by Sacred Art Beads website and check out new additions up for sale and of course my Ebay listings because I ALWAYS have something up on ebay.

One way or another....

Ok I'm sweating it now. It has been my goal, as every other lampworker's I know, to make beads on a full time basis. Keeping items up on Ebay consistantly is a must if you want to keep your following. I have my BeadArtists.org marketplace and my Etsy store too as well as my website. It takes a lot of time plus my full time bookkeeping job does too. I have taken the first steps in applying for a part time job working 3 days a week. I have applied with two companies close to my home and have been called by both. Yea! I'm wanted. I felt it fair to let my current employer know what was happening. They have treated me fairly over the last two and a half years. It seems now that they be willing to keep me part time. Fingers crossed! I should know maybe by Monday but it looks good. I hate moving around. My two previous jobs were 13 years each. I am 49 and have doing the same thing for 30 years. It's time for something new. Plan on seeing MORE of my work out there!

Thanks guys for listening.

More focals up on my site!

Just a reminder that I have a few focals up on my website. Focals just $10.00 each and Focal Sets for $15.00. That's a great price because my focals sometimes go as high as $25.00 each on Ebay.

Sacred Art Beads Website

I should have a couple new sets up too this week on Ebay. More Psyche glass. I love that glass!

New on Ebay!

New on Ebay I have some beads from Double Helix's new glass called Psyche. Reducing it brings out a really nice metallic sheen and a rainbow of blues, greens and purples. There are many new "silver" glasses on the market, most American made but I like these results better then any other glass I have tried. Please check them out at

My Ebay

These auctions are up this Saturday and Sunday. And keep checking my website for new focals at $10.00 each and focal sets for $15.00 being added.

Went to a wonderful glass gallery.

My daughter and I went to a wonderful glass gallery in Dallas called Kitrell-Rifkin. It was near the Galleria shopping center. Large and a huge display of some of the most amazing glass art I have ever seen! Blown glass, fused glass and stained glass. They have drawers and drawers of fantastic jewelry made by local artists. Then we went back to the workshop. It was really nice and the girl working there was so sweet. We bought some rods of Moretti and she made sure to point out all the new colors! People, glass is my addiction, lol! She gave us the class schedule and I am so excited, they have fusing glasses! My daughter and I had just gone to a bead show that morning to visit my bead friend Donna at her booth. Her fused pendants just pop with color! Ryan kept saying "I have got to learn to do that!". Now is our chance. Maybe soon you'll see some fused beads on my website, maybe even some from Ryan. We're taking the fused plate glass so I'll post pics when we are done.

Happy Beading!

Not quite up to speed yet.

I'm tired of being sick and I'm sure you're tired of hearing me complain about it. I have new glasses to try this weekend. I've got some new Double Helix Psyche! What a cool glass! Beautiful rainbow colors. Transparent swirly blue and purple rainbows. I hope to have a set of those up this weekend on Ebay. I also have some more silver blue from recycledartglass.com! I also got some of their (not so cheap) silver clear. I am anxious to see what that does. Maybe I can get it to reduce to metallic now that my bead friend Donna (Dancing Light Jewelry) has given me some great reducing tips! The people I have met since joining Grapevine Beadmakers are just the best bunch of people. I have learned so much from them. We have a new group Ebay auction up. Please check it out. It is under cgbeads. Don't forget I still have beads up on Etsy (CalamitysClan) and my website.

Have a great weekend!

New focals on my website!

I'm finally among the living, I think. I have several new sets on Ebay including a new, very cool, set called Recycled Glass Art. There is a group on http://www.recycledartglass.com/ that take old glass pieces and recycle them into usable glass called frit. So I took recycled Silver Blue frit and lots of fine silver foil and added those to a base of Moretti Copper Green. Reducing allowed the silver in the frit to really pop. I love the effect and I really like the idea of recycling old glass into new pieces of art. I have a few coldworked focals on http://www.beadartists.org/ and some sets still up on etsy. I am so exciting to have moved up the ranks in the top 100 of http://www.beadartists.org/. I am number 66 today!

The other exciting thing that I have done is get some beads actually for sale on my website! Ta da! OK it's only a couple focals but I'm excited. Rather than let a stash build up for an orphan sale I am offering focals for $10.00! Focals plus two spacers $15.00! As a jewelry maker I think I would be excited not to have to buy big expensive bead sets. Lots of different focals for lots of different pieces.

Still down.

Hope everyone is feeling better than I am today.

Back from the dead...

Or so it feels. I have been sick for the past two weeks. Asthma they are saying but this has been bad. Just got back to my 9 to 5 job today. And if I'm home sick and still too sick to make beads then I am REALLY sick, lol. I don't have any new things up on Ebay but I did want to give you a link for the Grapevine Beadmakers auction on Ebay. They found my beads btw! So glad they were not taken. Here's the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=120155615947&Category=34070 . There are some really beautiful beads here by some really great artists! Check them out! I still have some beads on Etsy.com and several coldworked beads in the BeadArtists.org market place. Look under focals. I am working on some new pendants for Vetro Glass Gallery in downtown Grapevine. Grapevine is having their biggest festival of the year the weekend of September 15th. Lots of food, wine and great art. Vetro is enclosed in the festival area so go by if you get a chance. They have glass blowing demos all weekend. What kid doesn't love to watch glass blowing?

New items up on Etsy

Check out Sacred Art Beads on http://www.etsy.com/. I have a couple small items I just put up. A really cool focal I found in my stash. Artsy design on a transparent red base. I made a couple of matching red spacers to make this mini focal set. A steal at $15.00. I also put up a small floral button set. OK. I admit it. I don't like making florals but this little set turned out nice. Turquoise flowers on a shiny black based button. Six good sized buttons in this set. Check them out!

It looks like the heavily populated areas of Mexico have been spared from the hurricane. Hope their luck continues.

On a really weird note. I belong to a local bead group. Great and supportive people. I am just getting to know them and enjoy every meeting I can get to. We have a group auction on Ebay going up every month to help raise money for the group. There are some really great beadmakers here including Donna Felkner. She lists her beads under cgbeads so be sure to check out her auctions and the auctions listed under her ID for the group. The weird thing is my donation for the group disappeared. I hope they just fell behind something and show up soon. If you happen to see five saphire blue pillows with lots of silver and yellow dots, they are mine!

My focals on www.beadartists.org have been classified in the focals section of the marketplace. These are very cool cold-worked beads so check them out!

See ya guys!

Back in the nick of time!

I'm came back from my cruise just days before Hurricane Dean hit the Yucatan penninsula! We visited Cozumel and Progresso Yucatan and the weather was pretty nice. It looks like the storm is going to wind down a little before hitting the resorts. I hope they don't get too much damage. Cancun is just getting back from the last hurricane that nearly wiped them out. Those poor people. I feel for the people boarding the ship as we were getting off. I saw a wedding party board. I wonder where they were diverted to? Maybe Florida.

Anyway, bead talk. I have a couple new auctions on Ebay. One set of really nice Terra frit on Berry is up. I got carried away making spacers so it's a pretty large set. The other is a really pretty silvered set with Berry on a black base. No bids on that yet but lots of people watching. I also have a Terra leaf focal up complete with matching hand painted silk cord. Take a look!

Also, new for me, a new BeadArtists.org marketplace for me! I have four really cool cold-worked beads. You might have a little trouble finding them because they show up uncategorized even though I listed them under focals. Got to get that fixed.

Mandrels are back up too!

Happy beading!

One More Day!

One more day until our cruise! And honestly all I keep thinking of, besides ALL that water, is a whole week without making beads! Stupid huh? I'm sure I'll forget all that once the trip starts. I have some more new glass to play with when I get back and I have a few finished sets so I'll be back on the bay next weekend. I also still have a couple of orphan sets left that I'll put up again at a reduced price. I've got some more Terra so I hope to have a set of those up. I also have some new Caliente glass that looks very cool and wispy. I'm going to try some sculptural beads with those. Also, keep an eye out on Ebay for a Grapevine Beadmakers auction to help fund the organization. There are some fantastic beadmakers in that group so I'm sure there will be some awesome beads in this auction! Yellow is the theme.

And I warned you Seattle! Ryan and Sylvester are on their way today!

Bye! And I'll try to post from the ship. I'll have my laptop and they have WIFI.

A little vacation from Ebay, and for me too!

My auctions are going to take a little break from Ebay for the next week. I am going on vacation! I am taking my first full week vacation ever. Seriously, in my 30 year career I have never taken an entire week off, not even for either of my (two) honeymoons. I guess taking off four weeks after each child might be counted but those did not "feel" like vacations. This is also another first for me, a cruise! We are going to Mexico. I love Mexico. I will be back on the 16th of August and hope to get my mandrel auctions back up on the 17th. I have made some more bead sets that I hope to put up by the 18th. See you then with pictures from Mexico!

Orphan Sets Up On The Bay!

Ok my bead stash has been cleaned, sorted and photographed. Here's the link in case you would like to take a peek: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZcalamitysclanQQhtZ-1QQfrppZ50QQfsopZ1QQfsooZ1QQrdZ0 . I also have a large set of Terra on Sea Green that turned out really well. They just sparkle in the sun with lots of hues of blues and purples. I like the effect so much that I have done another Terra set that should be up this week. These are on a base of gorgeous ASK Berry glass.

Another Day At The Office

If you're checking out my Ebay auctions and wondering where they are it's because I'm stuck at the office, again. I don't mean that I'm busy, I'm not. In fact I have almost nothing to do except hold down the fort while everyone else is on vacation. It wouldn't be too bad if someone would just CALL or COME IN! Please. I could be home making beads. I do have my orphan auctions starting tomorrow at 4:00 PST on Ebay. Take a look if you get a chance. There are almost 1000 beads split into 11 separate auctions. This is a stash I built up over the last several years. My daughter, Ryan, offered to help clear things out so half the money from these auctions will go for her to take on her trip to Seattle next month. She and her boyfriend, Sylvester, are very excited to go. They were not able to go with the rest of the family on our cruise next month (Yea! Mexico!) I won this trip to Seattle on a local radio station and I was able to transfer it to her name. Seattle, WATCH OUT!, Ryan is on her way!

Check it out and I hope to have a couple new sets up by Sunday.

Productive weekend!

I spent all weekend making beads, packaging beads, cleaning beads and stringing beads. Shipped quite a few mandrels too. I am in the process of cleaning out my bead stash of hundreds of beads! Some are orphans and some are seconds. Some are beads that I just lost interest in. They have been sorted by color (kind of) and will be up on the bay soon. They are pretty large sets ans I'll be starting them probably at .50 or 1.00 per bead, depending on the size. I have just sold an orphan lot of focals but there are still a lot of 16-17mm beads in this mix, great for focals.
I left my lightbox in the rain this weekend so I have to make another before I can take pics. It's a great cheap light box made from a cardboard box. Email me if you're interested in making one for yourself. Hopefully those sets will be up this week. Happy beading!

Sacred Art Beads New Blog!

Yea! Time to start fresh. Sacred Art Beads is my new website. I have discontinued Trifles and Trinkets. That was an old website with what I felt like was just an old-fashioned name. In the beginning it was my intention to sell just jewelry. As I continued to make jewelry I also began making lampwork beads for my own use. I have found that I enjoy beads more than making jewelry. I have been selling almost exclusively on Ebay but it my goal to also make enough to stock on my website. The other site I have been working on is my BeadArtists.org gallery. Here is the link if you are interested in seeing some of my work: http://www.beadartists.org/Gal904_Sacred_Art_Beads_Gallery.asp.
I recently hit the top 100 galleries on this site. Boy, was I surprised! I honestly thought it was someone else that had taken my name, lol. Duh. It was a very nice surprise that that many people took an interest in my stuff. Thanks guys!
